Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Warriors Party

Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, demons, and dark forces growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of adventurers who will separate from the main group to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.

Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 show why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the party knows exactly where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.

The antagonist then cleared his debts and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, wants retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The strong character and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their position as key figures in the influential clan could enable the team reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the clan.

This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in quest for the antagonist.

What’s Next?

Based on the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Seekers and Strategists tables.

Audiences can anticipate learning which characters will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
